Our modern dance teachers are college trained in Limon, Graham, Horton, and/or Duncan techniques, as well as contact improvisation.
Students learn a given technique's fundamentals as well as the philosophy behind its founder. We emphasize pure, academic modern dance techniques rather whatever original or 'lyrical' movement happens to suit the teacher's tastes or follow current trends.
Ballet students also have the opportunity to learn contemporary choreography, independent of their regular ballet classes, once they demonstrate a solid understanding of classical ballet. Twenty-first century contemporary ballet expands their range and gives them the versatility required of today's concert dance repertoire.
